The Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Employees (AFULE) recently held an election for offices that correspond with offices of the Electrical Trades Union of Employees Queensland (ETUQ), in respect of its AFULE Division (AFULE Division).
The AFULE is the federal counterpart body of the AFULE Division.
To avoid holding two elections for a corresponding office, the ETUQ will make an application for exemption from holding an election under section 802 of the Industrial Relations Act 2016 (Qld).
The ETUQ is making this application so that the member who fills an office in the AFULE will fill the corresponding office in the AFULE Division.
The members of the AFULE Division will not be detrimentally affected as members have already voted, or been given the opportunity to vote, in the election held for the federal counterpart body of the AFULE Division.
This notice will apply to any vacant offices in the AFULE Division until the expiry of the term which commences in 2023, where the office in which the vacancy occurs (in the AFULE Division) corresponds with an office in the AFULE, and where the AFULE has held an election for its vacant office.
If you have any questions, please contact the AFULE Division.
Joining AFULE gives you a range of benefits - find out more.

The AFULE dates back to 1861 making us the first and oldest railway union in the world, the AFULE has stood the test of time representing the majority of traincrew within QLD and we are very proud to continue this craft union that exclusively represents traincrew.
